Dave got back a day later than planned due to unfavorable flying weather. He brought me home a piece of really old barn wood.
There is my wood - tucked in the back of Steve's plane.
The highlight of his trip was getting lost in this cave. Four hours of walking around in circles and crawling in and out of tight spaces. It was cold and dark, muddy and slippery - and there were bats. He didn't have drinking water but he was proud he had the camera and extra flashlight batteries. At least this way, he could take a picture of himself in a flashlight-lit path - dying from thirst ;)

That sounds horrific - four hours lost in a cold, dark, muddy cave. With bats!
But nice pictures!
wow a real bat-cave :)
We were only lost for about 15-20 minutes. We didn't expect that finding the passage we were looking for would be such a chore and wound up having to backtrack our way out; which was a lot harder than coming in. The bats were cute, the cold mud was refreshing, and the dark...well it was really dark when we all turned of our flashlights and told scary stories. ;)
The cave has "keep out" clearly painted on the entrance... you trespassers! Goblin cave owners get absolutely no respect these days!

Oh, see! He brought you wood and photos even though he was dying of thirst. He's your hero! :-)
yeah im surprised... but dave's a trooper..he would survive anything! hiya david!
Just *reading* about a cave with bats scares me!
::shudders::
I like the feeling that you're going to miss your "other."
Bats are cute :)But being lost in a dark damp cave, not so much! Great photos.
